Home Wireless Setup and Configuration
This full day course introduces the home user to the pieces necessary to setup wireless networking and Internet connection at home or their small business, the basics of networking and the World Wide Web, and the various threats to a student’s home network. The course will propose the idea that protection should be applied in layers. And the course will discuss the history of wireless networks and their weaknesses.
Each piece of equipment and services necessary will be covered and explained including what to look for when buying home or small business equipment. Each student will setup the hardware, do all basic configurations, and test for network and Internet connectivity. Finally, there are several steps students can take to protect their network and themselves. These steps are explained, and students will have the opportunity to perform these tasks.
Students should have completed Computer Foundations, Introducing Windows and Home Computer Security.
